Our Halloween! What a treat!

Halloween this year was more treat than trick...but there were a few tricks as you will soon find out...I've talked about Abby's love for "Woz" (The Wizard of Oz) before, and we thought this year, it would be cute for her to be Dorothy! (Incidentally, my brother Layne's daughter, Mina, was also Dorothy, though we weren't able to get together at Halloween to get pics of the girls. I included one at the end of the post that he sent.) Anyway, I spent the last month of pregnancy telling myself that I needed to finish making her costume before the baby was born, so I finally did a couple of weeks before. Her sweet Aunt Ali sent her the ruby red slippers the night before I had Phoebe and she has worn them every day since...

The day started out at the doctor's office, actually. I had to take Phoebe to the pediatrician for her 2-week check-up and decided to take Abby with me, because the office is half way to Josh's workplace. Since we went there on Halloween last year to "trick-or-treat" down the hallway of Josh's coworkers and have lunch with him, we decided to make it a tradition and do it again this year. So I had both girls with me in the doctor's office. We were there for 2 hours, and remember in my last post when I talked about potty mishaps? Well, we'll just say that one of them took place there in the packed waiting room...and though I WAS prepared with extra undergarments, I had left them in the car! Fortunately, Abby was standing when this all took place, so her Dorothy costume, which of course, she was wearing, did not suffer from the mishap, but her cute blue socks DID. You'll see in the first pics that she has no socks on....

Cookie Monster was the hit of the party for Abby! She talked about it for days after! Thank you, Sandy for being so great with her!

Sittin' on Dad, the biker's, lap!

Our Halloween family portrait. I was just glad to be "non-pregnant Erin" again...

Abby loved the big light-up pumpkin! Thanks, Nancy, for the great decorations at the office!

So we headed home for naps and a good washing of Abby's tinkle-covered Dorothy socks...

Then on to the Ward Fall Festival for hot dogs, games and trick-or-treat!

Mom, the "runner" (wishful thinking;o) with Phoebe in her Halloween get-up, given to her by Nancy from work. She had a Tigger costume on when we got there, but I never got a pic and it was too big anyway, so it didn't stay on long...

Uncle Boo, the 70's guy, Aunt Amber, the little baby, and Cousin Myah, the butterfly(she was sooo cute walking around in those orange tights with those butterfly wings on...)

Myah with Grandpa, the cowboy...

Bishop Josh and Uncle Boo had to participate in the "pie"-eating contest...

Great Grandma Da and Phoebe winning the cake walk...

Abby waiting in the line-up with cousin Kendal for the winner of the kids' costume contest to be announced...And the winner is....

Abby Axelson as Dorothy Gale from Kansas! She loved her bag of loot! Even more "num-nums" to add to her sugar-high for the day!

Going through her bag! Very soon after, there was another mishap as she sat right there on the floor just like this...ugh! This time the socks and shoes were dry, but the dress suffered a little...

And, my favorite! Dorothy the vampire! We had such a fun day!

Here's the pic of Mina!

Cutie-Patootie!

My girls & Jacobi too come to think of it used to just stare at Jake like that - those babies are just gaga for their Uncle Jake it is sweet!

I can't believe you made the costume. sooooo cool. You are amazing. She made an absolutely adorable Dorothy. We're doing a Wizard of Oz theme for an open house at our school....and it was fun to see these pics after familiarizing myself with it after several years. Anyways. halloween rocks.
